I had quite a lot of fun today, speeding through what's been left of Frederick Forsyth's detective thriller, The Odessa File; it's pretty exciting stuff, really, and what draws me to Forsyth's novels is the whole plausibility of the stories he writes, of spies, the underworld, of shady characters, invisible men with big, really big hidden global agendas who really could just be the butcher or grocer living next door.
Anyhow, it was fun; it's been a very long time since a book has captivated me so much that I was unable to put it down for a single minute, and it's been quite a while since I've mowed books down like this at such a high speed (for myself, at least); must've been the BBC Top 200 list that's been circulating around blogs for some time; I printed the list, and I carry it with me wherever I go, lest I should stumble on a library or bookstore, which I DO deliberately go into very often ;).
It's been enjoyable :).
20mm has, too, been enjoyable. It's been quite stifling, restricting myself to shooting on my 50mm prime because I cannot stand for the complete flat contrast and almost-monochrome images that I've been getting from my 28-80mm/f3.5-5.6 II cheap consumer zoom that came with my EOS 66 body.
It really is quite different, a wide-angle--it's so liberating, in terms of framing, coming up with a viewpoint, and all; and I supposed this will save me, the 20mm with the super-fast USM, when I don't have much space to stand in front of the VIP when I'm snapping next Monday.
So there.
A peaceful, quiet weekend awaits me after too many consecutively exciting ones, mostly spent with my two good buddies; enjoy your weekend! It's been nary a weekend I haven't been out with them since the year started, and gosh! It's already nearly a quarter of a year gone.
Almost reaching the halfway point already; can't wait for the day when I'll have only a year left.
