Holiday Seasons

Life

It's yet another holiday season gone by, the five days of Chinese New Year (well, including the eve) gone by in a flash, just like that. Somehow, the coming of Christmas every year heralds the coming of a slew of holidays--first, Christmas, and then New Year, and then Chinese New Year, and a whole lot of public holidays.

No wonder the beginnings of every year always leave me breathless, panting, after too many public holidays and all that, after too much rest, after too many start-stops, too many interruptions to routine and all. Somehow, the holidays just make me expect too much of the breaks, and I nearly always inadvertently end up disappointed by excessively high expectations.

I still remember some public holiday around this time of the year last year--Hari Raya Haji or something like that, when I moped around at home for half the day before finally dashing down to Tanjong Pagar, where I met an old friend whom I hadn't contacted for a long time at some 茶馆 there--sipping Chinese Tea, catching up on old times, those two years or so that we had not met.

And, quite unexpectedly, that was kind of the start of everything, reawakening our close and very comfortably fuzzy friendship, and everything started from there again; and it's been very nice, having someone around in my darkest most desolate times. I'm glad things got off to a start again; and I still remember that day, when you were fashionably half-an-hour late with your exploded hair (you permed it? I don't know haha), as you came rushing out of the MRT gates. Haha. How comical you looked ;).

But anyhow, I'm glad you're around, and I just thought you should know.

Anyway, it's been a good holiday season/break, this one, even if it's been marred a little, a little sobering--I had my share of very good fun, with mad photography, seeing so much fun and action and adrenaline, first of youthful madness in school, and then of sheer craziness on Sheares Bridge; and you were there with me; I guess that made it all the better. 能够有知心朋友陪着是幸福的; 希望你也是这样想 :).

Okay. It's very late. I'm off. Goodnight.
