Hmm, though it isn't Friday yet (yay long weekend tomorrow!), here's last Friday's Friday Five:
1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed?
Yeah, it's still the same, even if once in a while people place a space in between Jiaqi.
2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?
Hmm. I've never really thought about that; besides, I enjoy the ambiguity of my name, how people usually take it to be that of a girl, and I enjoy the sheer weirdness of the Chinese characters of my name. 家奇. Like, sheesh. Haha. I sure enjoy the not-too-seldom harmless poke at my name sometimes :P.
3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)
My paternal grandfather named me; 家 is the family character for those in my generation, but I never knew why the second word in my name is 奇, or odd, in Chinese. Some say it's because I live in a weird house; my parents used to explain my traits with my name: a homebody who didn't enjoy going out much (hence the 家, which is home), and a weird character and temper (奇, for odd).
I prefer to think of my name as being 家中奇才, the genius of the household. Haha. It's completely shameless, I know, but it sure is fun, isn't it? Haha. And one of my (ex-)classmates has my name listed as THAT in the phonebook of her handphone haha. I'm not joking :P.
4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?
I wouldn't hate any names, I guess. Why should I? It's more likely I'd hate the owner of a name and so come to hate what's associated with the name, than the name itself. But, at any rate, I've stopped hating people since a long time ago. It's very tiring to hate someone; I just forget, let go, and live my own life.
After all, we only live once; why waste energy on hating?
5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com / triggur.org / astroexpert accurate? How or how isn't it?
Well, it's here. It's pretty accurate, I guess. Why don't you tell me? :P.
That's it for today. Nothing much on this long weekend, with everyone busy with schoolwork and examinations. It'll just be a quiet weekend spent at home, I guess; finally, some quiet time to start working on my paper on unemployment in Singapore and its roots in the education system. Interesting thing that'll be.
So, that's it for now.
