I finally bought myself a new pair of shoes today, after walking around in my overused, worn out and rather tattered pair of 2-year-old running shoes; it's a pair of walking shoes, to be exact, a pair of rugged, dark coloured Weinbrenners, to be exact.
And so, finally, I've graduated from the days of wearing track/running shoes everywhere I go.
Shoes, or rather footwear of any kind, tell a lot about their wearers, as I've observed. I seem to have this eccentric habit of observing the shoes people wear, and it's interesting trying to match the shoes a person wears to his/her personality.
People who wear open footwear (slippers and the like) wherever they may be going, tend to be more open about their feelings and emotions towards others, I feel. They are more easygoing, more sociable, less uptight, and not afraid to express themselves, to be frank with themselves. They go with the flow, move with the times, and are not afraid to have their feet seen.
Those whose feet are planted in sporty track shoes, regardless of the occasion, tend to be more conservative, I think. They're less open, doggedly hanging on to the last, fading shreds of their past, being dragged along by the nose by change, by relentless time. Nonetheless, I guess they're dependable people, always there, ready for any situations, their feet kept nice and dry, comfortable and well-protected whatever the terrain, whatever the weather.
As for those who wear sandals with straps round the backs of their feet, they're practical and pragmatic people, happy sometimes, sad when there's a reason to be, but generally satisfied with life.
But then again, what I say may just not be true. In fact, it's just a fig of my imagination, conceived in my head to entertain myself. Haha.
It's a warm day.
