Life

Have you ever taken a closer look around your neighbourhood, around where you live?

Although I've been living in Jurong West for the past 9 years, I'm afraid I cannot claim that I am very well acquainted with this place I live in; whenever I take a walk or a ride around the area on my bicycle, criss-crossing every path in any way I want to, not caring about where I'm going, not bothering about where I'd be headed, not worrying about where I'd end up, I'll find something new.

I enjoy moving around on the ground, walking, cycling, whatever, just taking whichever turn I want to, going down whichever lane I wish. The feeling of freedom, from having any particular destination, from time, from all your cares, is simply exhilarating, and sheer relaxation.

It's a very interesting exercise too; even if the only places I explore are all within 3 kilometers of where I live, every little spot in the estates has its own unique personality, its own unique atmosphere, its own unique identity. It's refreshing, looking at the same thing from different perspectives, from different angles, quite literally. Every expedition, even if it's only around the same place, reveals new discoveries, new nooks and crannies never before explored.

It's all the more interesting, when I hop on my bicycle, armed with my camera and tripod, carefully crystallising the world I live in on film, seeing the world through my inner self.

It's terribly interesting; you should try it one day: just go walk or cycle around where you live, and you'll be surprised how much you will find. :)
